Decisions and Consequences « ronLine »
ecisions are nothing more than the mental process we go through before we take a deliberate action. You would be amazed how many decisions you make every day. Even the decision not to act, is a deliberate action, and you made the decision that results in that action. I find it interesting how little literature there is about how to make wise personal decisions. I am still striving to understand this art. To give even the simplest advice, I would then offer this: despite what you were taught by society, there is no right or wrong decision. It is amazing how liberating making a decision is when you have finally learned to accept that simple fact.
The consequences of our decisions can be intended, or more frequently, unintended. The consequences of our decisions can also be good for us or bad for us. Regardless of what combination they come in (intended and good/bad, unintended good/bad) we must master that ability to accept and embrace it. We should really learn to embrace and celebrate the good, but more importantly embrace and accept the bad. Embracing and accepting the bad is not to like it, or try to enjoy it, but to take it head on and to learn from it. Many of us are well trained in ignoring the bad things in our life and ignoring our bad or unintended consequences only leads to the failure to learn to make better decisions in the future.
Life is merely a web of decisions and consequences. When trying to master yourself and your life, you should choose first to master the art of decisions, and the ability to accept and embrace the consequences.
